Owned and possibly imported by
Mr. J. Knott of Pomposa Mine on Chevy Chase Farm,
Chakari. Acquired in 1930 by Mr Bunny Cairns, when
a farmer from Chakari told him of an old car that
had been in a shed on his farm since he acquired
it in 1915. Owned since about 1933, when the car
appeared in a carnival procession, by Cairns
Motors. Displayed for many years in their showroom
in Salisbury. Until the late 1980s the car, or
auto-buggy, was believed to have dated from 1898
but research showed the car was of later
manufacture. Was at some stage in the Bulawayo
Museum as well as the Mutare Museum. It was
acquired around 1996 by the Omar family when they
took over TA Motors in Harare. Car painted red
around 2008. Currently stored in South Africa. Two
other Schacht's exist in Southern Africa, both in
South Africa, one in a private collection and the
other in the CP Nel Museum in Oudtshoorn. Acquired
by the Private Collector in South Africa, who owns
the other Schacht, in 2021.
